As a parent of a child with hearing loss or deafness, you may be eligible for a disability allowance from birth until the child reaches the age of 18, provided certain basic conditions are met.

Eligibility for the allowance is determined based on the classification of the child's hearing impairment:

Hearing Impairment: A hearing loss of 40–44 decibels in speech frequencies in both ears, requiring the child to consistently wear hearing aids. Eligibility is granted at a rate of 50%.

Deafness: A hearing loss of 45 decibels or more in speech frequencies in both ears. Eligibility is granted at a rate of 100%.
