Air Conduction Hearing Aid: This is the most common type of hearing aid, typically worn behind the ear in children. It is connected to the external ear canal via a tubing and earpiece. The device processes sounds to make them optimally audible and transmits them to the ear.
Cochlear Implant: A cochlear implant is an electronic device intended for children with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss. One part of the device is surgically implanted into the inner ear, while another part is externally attached via a magnet near the ear. Cochlear implants are designed for children who do not benefit adequately from hearing aids and meet specific audiological and medical criteria.
Bone Conduction Hearing Aid: This hearing aid is for children with conductive or mixed hearing loss. The device transmits sound through the bone in the mastoid area, bypassing the outer and middle ear.
Each hearing device is customized for the child based on the severity and type of hearing loss in each ear.
